Spectacle Lake Trailhead: (29 km from Saanich Hall). Take highway #1 west from Victoria. Continue .8 km past the first Shawnigan Lake cut-off and turn left (just before the summit of the Malahat) . Follow this road to a parking area (at the first junction go left, then look for a gravel road on your right, approximately 1 km after the first junction). This road leads to the Spectacle Lake parking area.

Dayhike	1 boot (easy).	1 hour round trip.	Suitable all year.

Description

This trail, near the summit of the Malahat Drive, circles Spectacle Lake with branch trails providing access to the Oliphant Lake, Malahat Ridge, and the Hatchet Jack lookout.

This trail features lakes.

Hazards

boardwalk (can be very slippery in wet conditions)

The last time I hiked this trail there was evidence of mountain bike and dirt bike use of the trail to Oliphant Lake.

Water

There is a hand pump for water but it appears to be disabled during winter months.
