Whistler Trailhead: (190 km from Saanich Hall, ferry required). Distance quoted is via the Swartz Bay/Tswassen ferry rather than the Nanaimo/Horseshoe Bay route.

Take highway 17 north from Victoria to Swartz Bay and catch the ferry to Tswassen. From the ferry terminal at Tswassen drive north on 17 to 99 and head into Vancouver. Follow Oak Street and watch for the signs to Stanley Park and the Lion's Gate bridge. From the bridge follow the signs to highway 1 and take it west to where 99 departs from it heading north to Whistler via Squamish. In Whistler drive to the gondola lift and park in the large parking lot below the lifts. If you are backpacking make sure you park in the lot allocated for overnight parking (at the time of writing this was lot 4).

Description

The trail starts from Whistler Village and heads up an old road gaining about 400m in 4km to the former trailhead (outhouse available). From here the route changes from road to a good trail The trail follows Fitzsimmons Creek to the pass, entering Garabaldi park at the 5km mark. The trail is well graded with a relatively constant elevation gain and no terribly steep sections.

From Singing Pass you can take a 2km side trail to Russet Lake. There is a small shelter at Russett Lake about 2km beyond the pass.

To return either follow the 9.4km Musical Bumps trail to the Whistler summit (make sure the lifts are operating) or retrace your steps to the trailhead.
