Spectacle Lake Trailhead: (29 km from Saanich Hall). Take highway #1 west from Victoria. Continue .8 km past the first Shawnigan Lake cut-off and turn left (just before the summit of the Malahat) . Follow this road to a parking area (at the first junction go left, then look for a gravel road on your right, approximately 1 km after the first junction). This road leads to the Spectacle Lake parking area.

Description

From the northwest end of Spectacle Lake a trail branches northwards. Part way along the trail you encounter a road, the trail resumes with a moderate climb, immediately on the other side. This trail splits again about 2 km up on a ridge. The left hand fork drops down and joins the truck road that circles Oliphant Lake (1 km).

Hazards

Sections of the trail to Oliphant Lake are prone to minor flooding, be perpared to get your feet wet!

Comments

Access to Oliphant Lake down logging road can involve a stream crossing and some very large puddles when it is wet (particularly in the winter).

Water

There is a seasonal hand pump at Spectacle Lake.
