Labour Day Lake Park: South Island Forest District, Port Alberni region, Port Alberni 4.0 km loop.Terrain: Moderately smooth

Labour Day Lake Road Trailhead: (230 km from Saanich Hall, 30k on logging roads, 4wd recommended). Drive north from Victoria on highway #1 at Nanaimo take BC#19 north to the Port Alberni cutoff just south of Parksville (137.5 km from Saanich Hall). Turn here (onto BC#4) and drive west. Just past the Sutton Pass summit look for a logging road on your left (signed as leading to the Mt Arrowsmith Ski Area). Turn onto this road and immediately reset your odometer. at 2.4 km go left at the "T" intersection, at 10.3 km take the right fork (the left fork leads to Mt Arrowsmith), at 15.1 km go left at the fork, at 20 km keep to the right. A few km beyond this there is another "Y", keep to the left at this fork (the right fork leads to the Minnas Ridge Trailhead). Park about 1 km before the end of the road in a large pullout on the right. The trail begins about 50m up the road on the right hand side.

Campsite is at Labour Day Lake, a 10 minute hike from the vehicles, see "Labour Day Lake" trail for directions.
Access restrictions:Although passable by private vehicle in July 1996, a 4wd is recommended as there are some rough spots on the road.
