Francis/King Park Trailhead: Take highway #1 west from Victoria to Helmecken road. Turn right and continue to Burnside road. Turn left and continue until you come to Prospect Lake road, turn right and drive for approx 2 km until you come to Munn Road, follow this to the Park.

Description

There are multiple possible routes for this trail, the information on this page represents a common route taken by the club. If you require specific information as to length, trail conditions or other aspects please contact the event coordinator.

There are many interconnecting trails in Francis King Park. This allows for a large number of possible routes. The information provided here is for the Centenial Trail loop with partial use of the Grand Fir Trail.

For the most part the signage is good in the park, there are, however, a few junctions where it is necessary for newcomers to consult the park brochure map.

The access to the Centernial trail on east (nature house side) of the road is between the Nature Hosue and the Forester Cabin.

Features

This trail features amphibians (Pacific tree frog), birds (Great Horned Owl, Steller's Jay, Winter Wren), flowers (Shooting star and White fawn lily), forests (Big leaf maple, Douglas-fir, Garry oak, Grand fir, Red alder and Western red cedar), shrubs (Indian plum, Oregon grape, Salal) and snakes (Garter snake).
