Dakota Ridge Trailhead: (29 km from Langdale Ferry Terminal, 10 km on logging roads, ferry required). Drive north from the Langdale Ferry terminal to Field Rd (approximately 17km, Field Rd is the first traffic light past Roberts Creek. On your right there is a small shopping plaza). Turn right onto Field Road and drive to where it ends at a T junction. Turn right onto the Forest Service Road and follow the signs to Dakota Ridge. If the snow levels are low you may have to stop at Parking Lot A which is 2km before Parking Lot B. From Parking Lot B a road climbs to the ridge, do not drive this road, it is usually snow covered even at the lower end.

Uses

Cross-country skiIntermediate. Best from November thru April.

Description

This is a fun area to ski, there are a number of trails. It would appear these are trackset during the winter but they weren"t when we went at Easter in 2007 (early April). The snow was still good for skiing with about 2 meters depth.

We tried going right at the junction just before the gate on the access road up to the ridge. Although this did lead to some nice areas we were not able to find an access to the ridge itself. I do not know if there are plans to connect any of the side roads from this area to the ridge, they were not connected in 2007.
