Description
Ski down the hill from the Parkside Centre building, cross the bridge and climb the hill on the far side. Continue straight through the gate (perpendicular to the fence) following the yelliow "Bridge Creek Trail" signs). The trail loops left at the base of a hill and heads away from the power lines then through pastures and groves of trees finally entering an open forest. The trail then turns left and descends, crossing a bridge and turning back towards 100 Mile House. Continue to a gate (look for an alternate route here, we may have gotten on the wrong trail at this point). Go through the gate and stay along the fence line. After you come out into the open again continue along the fence, looking on your left for the yellow signs, they are on your left through a couple of gates after you come to a wide gate leading to a barn (don't take the route to the barn).
Along the route back look for a spot where the path splits with the left fork descending to a bridge. Take this path, cross the bridge and climb up the far side. Near the top take the right hand fork and follow the power line back to the first gate where you left Centenial Park. Ski down the hill, across the bridge and back up to your vehicle.
Features
This trail features forests and meadows.
Hazards
There are some gates to get through. Cattle may be found along the route.
Comments
There appears to be a dispute regarding access to this land. 100 Mile Ranch has posted signs in a couple of places saying "Stay Out" that this is the "winter feeding ground" for their cattle. Someone else has written that "there is a public right of way through the land" and that "access cannot be denied". Given the number of signs for the Bridge Creek Trail System and several cross country ski trail signs I would tend to believe there is public access to the land.
This was a very enjoyable trail to ski, it makes an ok day hike as well. When we hiked it we did encounter a large herd of cattle but they were not in evidence when we skied the trail several months later. It may be that the area isn't used for cattle during the winter.
