Botanical Beach: To "Fool's Pool"
Botanical Beach Trailhead: (110 km from Saanich Hall, 2 km on logging roads). Drive west from Victoria on highway #1 to the Colwood exit. Take this exit and continue to where the road becomes BC#14 to Port Renfrew, take Cerantes Road to trailhead.

Features
This trail features beaches, For best viewing the tide should be 1.0 meter or less., birds (Bald Eagle) and marine mammals (Grey whale, Orca).
Hazards
- Rouge waves (waves of unusual height that can occur even on calm days - be cautious when wading or fishing, don’t stand too close to the water while taking photos). Be extremely cautious on the beach, people have lost their lives due to these unpredictable monster waves.

Check tides before going. Best time to go is at low tide to view the tide pools.
History
The name "Fool's Pool" is from the club's legends. On a hike in the mid 1990's Brian L felt the water in the pool with his hand. It was quite warm so he proceeded to jump in. To his surprise there was a thin layer of warm water on the surface and very cold sea water beneath.
