Hamsterly Beach Trailhead: (9 km from Saanich Hall). Drive north from Victoria on BC#17 to Sayward Road. Turn left on Sayward and then left again on Hamsterly to a parking area near the beach. Parking can also be found at Beaver Lake Park, take the Royal Oak exit from BC#17 and turn left on Royal Oak Drive and then right on Elk Lake Drive (just beyond the Royal Oak overpass).

Bear Hill Road Trailhead: (alternate start).Drive north from Victoria on highway 17 to Sayward road. Turn left on Sayward and then left again on Hamsterly to Brookleigh road, turn right and follow this to Bear Hill road.

Description

Access can also be had from the Hamsterly Beach parking area on Elk Lake (see access description for Elk Lake). To access Bear Hill from this trailhead head west on the take the trail around Elk Lake and watch for a trail branching off to your right. If you come to the parking area on Brookleigh Rd you've gone too far.

This trail features birds (Bald eagle, Raven, Turkey vulture), flowers (Blue camas, Chocoate lily, Seablush and White fawn lily), forests (Arbutuus, Douglas fir, Garry oak and Western red cedar) and views.
